A montage is a group of clips from different un-coordinated parts, that join together to make one. They show a series of actions over time, the series of clips will therefore deliver a message to the audience. There are a few different options for how to write a montage in screenplay form.
One of the first uses of 'Montages' in cinema is by Luv Kuleshov. He was amongst the first to use a 'brick by brick' layering system. This became popular and the way its worth was proved was by a Russian Director that conducted an experiment. He took an old film clip of a head shot of a noted Russian actor and inter-cut the shot with different images.
